NEW! C.O.S.ACADEMY TRAVEL TEAMS

INTRODUCTION

After nearly ten years of developing several thousand youth soccer players in the NYC Metro Area through its after-school, weekend and summer camp instructional programs, the acclaimed Carlos Oliveira Soccer Academy (COSA) is excited to launch several competitive travel teams this winter.

COSA invites soccer-loving boys and girls ages six to ten (6-10) to join us in this new phase of our soccer academy.  COSA will continue to use the Brazilian soccer system --the Brazilian philosophy of understanding and playing soccer-- to train and develop its young players led by some of the finest coaches in the area.

REGISTRATION

COSA is now registering through December 6, 2008 competitively minded children to create training teams for its 2008-2009 winter-spring season.  There will be only 10 players for each team; one team for boys and one for girls for each age group, U6-U10.  No tryouts will be required for this first season.  Tryouts for next 2009/10 season will be held in June.  Dates will be announced.

Registration is open to all on a first come, first registered basis.  If there are more than 10 players for each team, additional teams may be added accordingly.  Each team will have their own uniforms and a team name that represents a popular Brazilian professional club.

Age requirements for 2008/09 winter-spring seasons:

U6: player must be born on or after August 1, 2003

U7: player must be born on or after August 1, 2002

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

# What if I am already playing for a team/league?

> No problem, you can join our travel team while playing for your team/league.  Just let us know when your commitments are with your team, and we will try to avoid any time conflicts.

You may use the same player pass to participate in tournaments with our team, and you don’t need to get any release form every time you play with us.

# What is the difference from the academy classes?

> Our travel team runs separately from our weekly classes/lessons.  Practice time with the travel team is around 75-90 minutes and players practice twice a week; training is geared to more skilled players that are committed to play competitively. On the other hand, academy classes/lessons have a duration of 60-75 minutes and they are once a week on weekday or weekend.

# Why should I join COSA travel team?

The Carlos Oliveira Soccer Academy (COSA) has been operating in New York City since 1999.  It is directed by its founder, Mr. Carlos Oliveira, a former professional soccer player in Brazil with Santos F.C. and many other clubs.  Its programs have grown from a summer camp in Riverside Park to be a year-round program operating both indoors and outdoors on the Upper West Side and Lower East Side, serving several thousands of kids from ages 2 1/2 to 18 yearly.

Coach Carlos is currently a professional coach with experiences in Brazil, Mexico, Japan, Bolivia and Finland.  You will get all the benefits from the modern coaching techniques currently used around the world.  COSA utilizes highly trained soccer coaches from Brazil, Latin America and the US who work with children at their developmental level.
